Default Episode 12 — Adobe (Dynamic Media)

On the eve of the SMPTE conference in Sydney, MJCP and Seamus Byrne talk to Pete Brownstein, Adobe's Business Development Manager for Dynamic Media. While Adobe has been ever-present at SMPTE shows in the past, this is the first time the company is exhibiting in its own right. Topics covered include the evolution of Flash, augmented reality, the iPhone and Adobe's plans for web-based applications.

Listen now.

Hooray!

I'll listen later on but are podcasts a fortnightly thing now?

No, podcasts are weekly from now on -- we did miss a couple of weeks in there for reasons I won't go into, but that's behind us now. Expect future podcasts to be live by Saturday morning at the latest but usually earlier than that.

Awesome!

I was beginning to wonder if there was some announcement that I missed or something like that.

Thank you for asking the tough questions regarding the iPhone and flash, and also correcting Pete on the type of flash implemented in other "smartphones" - I for one disagree that flash is going to become more of internet content. Because it is so CPU hungry and mobile devices (handheld at least) are always going to lag behind desktop devices, I think that in the near future at least sites intended for mobiles (which is increasing dramatically) will intentionally NOT use flash.

I also believe that flash is becoming quite a bloated piece of software which is why it has become so CPU hungry. It can do some quite neat things, but if you know what you're doing there are other ways to achieve that without using flash.

Anyhow - great Podcast!
